Part 1 The Gate and the Hitman

Chapter 1 - The Gate

Crossman looked at Day: a super model on a good day. She had on tight pants, which pleased him. They had yet to have sex in space. She looked better than any blue star, better than any brand new corvette souped up with the Sphere logo on it. He loved her so much he hated it. She kept him clean, she kept him on purpose. It started with a look, and maybe the look should have been more about mankind, more about being part of the biggest event the human race had ever witnessed. First contact. But really, as you'll see, it was about pain and love.
A contact agent. Day was a contact agent just like him.
    "What's the status?"
"Gate is moving in orbit around the moon, about 100 days per orbit, as per its last 24 standard hour speed, and it pears to be sucking in material."
    "Why should I care?"
"Crossman," And he thought of having sex in space again. "You're an idiot." She saw him staring at her butt. She hated that. Especially since-- "Crossman, we have a gate 1 kilometer in width and length, looking like a pearl you open on Christmas, with a first contact scenario, the most impossible moment in all of humanity, and you stare at me and get a boner."
     "I don't have a boner."
     "You're too stupid."
Boss laughed. He was the kind of handler you met in a bar with a beretta in his pant leg. He always went around armed. He looked like a fat guy, but really he was in the best shape of the entire agency. He ran around Crossman in sprints, out did Day in distance running, and  could smoke more cigars in one day than most small colonies in the phase 2 sector. "You are great for me Crossman." He was an odd one.
But Crossman and Day, who were both seemingly in love and all about first contact in between sessions of love, were merely staring. They were on board the corvette Crystal, a small ship which was cheap and fit right in with the Contact Ops budget. It looked pale in comparison to the 1 kilometer form which had sit at the edge of Phase 1 space, about 200 light years from earth. The reason they were staring soon became apparent to Boss.
The gate, which looked like it could hold a battle cruiser with ease, was giving off a beam of light and seemingly opening. There was a sound--in space--of screaming and blood letting. Something was coming out of the gateway. Something small. It looked like a being of some kind, floating in the air completely devoid of any covering but skin. It appeared almost angelic, like god had remembered to finally send his good angels to earth to say hello to man. It was first contact. And all they could hear was screaming. Who was screaming? Was that a transmission,a com feed, a hack?
The corvette took a blow to its side, lost its secondary shields and gravity, and began to tumble toward the moon of Vega.
"Crossman, get me the president and the fleet."
It had gone beyond love, it had gone to survival.
The president of the republic would either nuke this impossible being or retreat. Pegasus might be the first stage of the attack.
"Contact protocols, sir. This is now a first contact mission, correct?"
"It just took out all our shields of    "Maybe it wants to board the ship, maybe it's making that possible. If it can live in space--"
"For god's sake, it just wiped out our shields in a fraction of a second from a distance of 2,000 kilometers. Fuck protocol, fuck first contact. It could wipe out Rema base in a matter of seconds. This is a red first contact."
"Boss," the president, or consul as some lovers of titles would call her, came in through the channel. "What is it,"And the screen went black. Crossman could hear screaming. Day took in a deep breath. And Boss hit a button. A red button.

Crossman woke up several minutes later, Day holding his hand and seemingly less frantic than her pulse would merit. "You look beautiful in black," and he coughed and stood up. Boss was looking across the  screen to the fleet in front of the gate. Not quite in front; they had it surrounded and had been sending radio transmissions, equations, language ciphers, beacons, and  other Red Contact protocols for several minutes. His switch to Red Contact had sent them out; this had been foreseen by government planners.

Published A Reader’s Eye Feb. 2008 The Worlds of Predator: The Movies, Comic Books, And Novels By Jacob Malewitz, Saturn Spec What is a Predator? There is no short summation of what this alien creature is because of its rich history. But an attempt to some up some of what it is will be detailed in this article, and in a fun, engaging way. In short, the Predator is an alien creature who hunts other beings, usually man and the Alien, and does so for the sport and challenge of it. This article will highlight the worlds the hunters called Predators have visited, including the films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover, the crossovers with Batman, and the novels that have reached publication. The best Predator story can be a divisive thing to choose—the creature has appeared everywhere. But if one story were the best it would be the Predator’s first ever appearance in the film “Predator” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here the man vs beast conflict proved that the alien c...

Transformers, the War Within Volume 1 -- A classic tale not to be missed

Transformers: The War Within Volume 1—A classic tale not to be missed by Jacob Malewitz Megatron has  killed Sentinel Prime. And a lowly clerk by the name of Optimus is on the rise to become the next leader of the Autobots. But he is just a clerk, a perfect hero in a sense because he is a commoner who can appeal to the other Autobots. “The War Within” is one of the longest looks back at Transformers history in comics. That isn’t what makes this graphic  novel work. What does is Simon Furman’s grasp as a writer of what the story needed, and wonderful illustrations by the artists.
